FTP and Motion Zone Setup

This page helps customers and technicians configure FTP image delivery to Watcher247, then define the motion zone so WhatsApp alerts are sent only for important events.

Recommended Watcher247 values

Use these values as a starting point, then adjust by camera model and location.

FTP settings

Server: ftp.watcher247.com
Port: 21
Mode: PASV/Auto
Remote Directory: usually empty
File Type: Image/JPEG

Capture settings

Enable Event-Triggered Snapshot, use High quality, capture 1 to 3 images, and start with 3000ms interval.

Motion settings

Enable Motion Detection, draw the zone carefully, set medium sensitivity, and test alerts.

HIK

Hikvision / HiLook

Usually configured through the browser, not Hik-Connect

Web Browser

Open the camera

Open the camera IP in a browser and go to Configuration.

FTP

Network → Advanced Settings → FTP, enter server, port, username and password, enable Upload Picture, then Test and Save.

Capture

Storage → Schedule Settings → Capture → Capture Parameters, enable Event-Triggered Snapshot and select JPEG/High/Capture Number.

Motion Zone

Event → Basic Event → Motion Detection, enable motion, draw the alert area, then enable Upload to FTP/Memory Card under Linkage Method.

Enable Event-Triggered Snapshot so images are sent on motion.

Draw the motion area and avoid unimportant zones.

Enable Upload to FTP from Linkage Method.

Reolink

Recommended because FTP and motion settings are available in the mobile app for many models

Mobile App

FTP Settings

In the Reolink app, open camera settings then Storage/FTP, and enter Server, Port, Username, and Password.

Transport & File

Choose PASV or Auto when available, and set File Type to Image or Image + Video depending on the package.

Non-Detection Zone

Draw the area you do not want alerts about, and leave the target area uncovered.

Test

Tap Save, move in front of the camera, and confirm images arrive in Watcher247.

Other camera brands

Paths differ by interface version, but the idea is the same: configure FTP, then link motion events to FTP snapshots.

Usually through browser or ConfigTool/DMSS depending on model

FTP

Setting → Storage → Destination/FTP, enter server details and Test.

Snapshot

Storage → Schedule → Snapshot, choose Motion or IVS as needed.

Motion

Event → Video Detection/Motion Detection, draw the area and enable Snapshot in Linkage.

UNV

Uniview / Uniarch

FTP image upload is supported in the web interface on many models

Web Browser

Snapshot

Setup → Video & Audio → Snapshot, enable Snapshot and set quality/size.

FTP

Setup → Storage → FTP, enter IP/Port/User/Password, choose Upload Images, then Test.

Motion

Setup → Events → Motion Detection, draw the area and link the event to FTP upload.

Axis

Strong event rules support with FTP/SFTP

Web Browser

Recipient

Settings → Events → Recipients, add an FTP/SFTP recipient with Watcher247 details.

Rule

Events → Rules, use Motion Detection as the condition and Send images through FTP/SFTP as the action.

Zone

Analytics or Motion Detection, set the zone and sensitivity.

VIGI

TP-Link VIGI

Some models support FTP, but uploaded FTP image quality can vary by event type and firmware

Check model

FTP

In VIGI or NVR interface, find Storage/FTP and enter server details.

Detection

Enable Motion or Human/Vehicle Detection and link the action to Snapshot upload.

Test

Test uploaded image quality because some firmware versions may reduce FTP snapshot resolution.

Important note: Before approving any new model, test three points: successful FTP Test, JPEG image arrival on motion, and motion zone control to reduce false alerts.
